    Sunday morning washing

It’s Sunday and I am pottering around the garden doing bits and pieces here and there. The birds are out and there’s lovely atmosphere in the air. I love this time of year, it’s a chance for me to get out in the garden and more importantly, hang the washing on the line.

There’s something special about air drying your clothes outside, it’s ritualistic but at the same time the smell of your clothes afterwards is fantastic. I’m not a fan of drying clothes indoors and I can remember seeking advice from my Mum about it years ago, mainly, how will I know if there’s a good dry out. I can remember her answer, she said that if the doorstep is dry, it’s a dry out. Now I don’t have her doorstep close by and I don’t really want to ring her up each time but I guess her answer was “you’ll just know”.

It’s lush getting the knack and becoming in tune with nature. It has been the most rewarding thing ever. I remember as a kid not wanting to go outside much because I wanted to watch TV or whatever and my Dad trying to get us to go outside. I get it completely now. It’s funny because I’m now the age he was when he was trying to coax us all out. Funny ow things happen. It’s always funny when I notice something else that I do that my Dad does. I like to tell him too because I have essentially become a mini-me to him (even though I’m taller than him).

  • Recharging my mental battery

Today is what I needed. I went to go see my parents. I love going to see them as they’re literally the best. They raised me to be who I am and not care about what people think about me. They set a blueprint that was hard growing up with sometimes but the mockery at school was only a few years. Each time I go visit my Mum and Dad I always go for a walk. It’s a big walk which takes me 25 minutes to get to the beach and then I sit there and record the sounds and ambience for the days I can’t get there. I’m always armed with binoculars, my camera and my audio recorder.

I love the solitude of it all. I do usually bump into people at some point and it’s nice because a little nod and a “hello” is always nice. After all, we’re there for the same purpose.

It was so nice to sit and meditate whilst on the beach. The sounds and the sensations just do something to me. I am an out and proud hippy and I don’t care. I’ve been doing this walk for years but the last two times I’ve done it, I’ve seen a few naturists. They’re like buses, never see one and then three come along all at once. No judgment from me.

I also recorded a podcast. I’ll upload it soon, when I work out how to self host it.

  • excited for tomorrow

I’m very excited about tomorrow as I get to visit my parents. I don’t get to see them as much as I would like because I don’t drive and I need to get a bus to see them. The bus is like an hour and forty which is a big chunk of time , meaning that I can’t go see them before or after work. I love catching up with them as we chat and all that.

I’m also excited because I get to visit my other happy place. A walk I like to do whenever I get the chance. I just love it. I take my binoculars, my camera and my audio recorder too. I want to capture as much of it as I can because it’s nice to be able to visit it with imagination. It’s by the sea so I get a lot of recordings of the sea and the way the sea is.

It’s also the place where my “podcasting tree” is. I like to sit in the same tree and record my podcast. I have recently been very down on it but I am warming more up to the idea of doing it again. I’ve been looking.into the IndieWeb and it’s giving me a lot to think about. It reminds me of how the internet used to be before people tried to milk it for money. I think that ethos is what is going to keep me going as a creator of boring shit that no one cares about.

  • Waiting for the fledge

We’ve got a nest box in the garden and we’ve got some bluetits in there. It’s been lush watching the parent bluetits going back and forth to feed their young. The little peeping noise has been intoxicating. We actually managed to see one poke their little head out of the hole so it’s just a matter of days until they start to fledge. Today is not that day but we’re both very excited… So is our cat and the neighbourhood cats. Fortunately our cat doesn’t care a great deal about birds but one running about and perching on a low branch is a bit of a worry…
