Catching my breath

Blog illustration

The last few days I have started to feel more like myself. It has felt like life has been going a million miles an hour and I haven’t been able to stop for a moment. This week I have been doing what I can to give myself some self-care. God knows I’ve needed it. I’ve had time to capture my thoughts and tick things off my ever-growing to-do list. I’ve got a couple more days left and I’m hoping to be fighting fit for autumn.

Life has been really hectic recently and it's just starting to settle down. I've never known a summer to be as busy as this. This kind off hectic schedule is usually reserved for the winter period.

I've done what I can in the ways of self care but it's been a hard one. The frustrating thing is I love to go for a lovely nature walk when I can and you would have thought that the summer would have been the best time to do this but it's not been the case. I haven't had the time I would have liked to have gone out. I've gone out as much as I can and I've sweated buckets in the process.

Here's to a quieter Autumn.

Too hot to handle

I've had a busy few weeks and I think it's now showing signs of slowing down. My brother is visiting us from America and with work and plans to do things with him it's been really full on. Sometimes all I want to do is just have a sit down and catch my breath.

The weather hasn't helped either. It's been scorching hot in the UK and it's really uncomfortable. This isn't how our weather is supposed to be. At school in the early 90s we were warned about "global warming" or as it is called now "climate change" and it seems to be coming into fruition. Usually I love getting out in that sunshine but it's just not fun. I am enjoying watering my garden though. There's a hosepipe ban in the UK and it's been quite a connection to nature using the rain water collected during the wet months. It's meditative filling my watering can and then watering the plants mindfully as to not waste a drop. I'm such a dirty hippy.

This hot weather has shown me even more the reason why we need to look after this planet. We can all make choices to help the environment.

Having time

I feel like I’ve dropped off the planet and have been in orbit for a while. I feel that I’m coming back in to land. It’s a weird sensation.

Unsocial media

Over the past few months I have been doing what I can to use the internet less, I've embraced the indieweb and started having control over my online presence and I've found that having an online presence isn't actually that important. I enjoy creating and sharing it online but as far as the social media stuff goes, I just can't ever keep my head in it.
